Our Philosophy

We, as Community Caretakers, assume the responsibility of caring for feral and abandoned cats.

OUR PLAN: Emergency care - Winter Feeding and Shelter - Trap - Neuter - Return

What is a Feral Cat?

"A feral cat is a free roaming, unowned and untamed domestic cat. Feral cats may be born in the wild and never socialized, or may be escaped pets that have reverted to a wild state. Feral cats may live alone but are usually found in large groups called feral colonies. Feral cat colonies often arise from stray or abandoned unsterilized cats. The cats breed rapidly and have multiple-kit litters," many of which end up in shelters.(1)

Why do we care?

Simple. We love animals. Because we enjoy our relationships with domestic and wild animals, we do our best to care for these feral cats and manage this colony responsibly.

How can we control feral cat populations?

We do not engage in or endorse killing feral cats. This does not control their population because other cats come in to take their place. If a colony has a stable population of neutered cats, these cats remain in the area and allow no other cats in. This controls the population by reducing unwanted litters.

How do we manage this feral cat colony?

We focus on immediate health issues requiring veterinary care, winter feeding and shelter, and a spay/neuter/return philosophy. We also rescue kittens and other tame cats to be placed in adoptive homes.
